MANHEIM – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced its updated national rankings on Friday, with the East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling team receiving votes while freshman Layton Schmick was ranked No. 12 at 285.

The Warriors hold a 3-2 record overall in duals and 0-2 mark in the PSAC with five conference matches remaining in the second half of the schedule.

Schmick is off to a very impressive first campaign with the Warriors as he is currently 17-3 overall and 3-1 in duals following last weekend's 44th Midwest Classic. Going 2-2, the Carlise native collected a victory over Notre Dame's sixth-ranked (at the time) La'Ron Park and has posted a trio of first place finishes at opens this season including the ESU Open, Bob Quade Cyclone Open and Nassau Open. Additionally, all three of his losses have come against currently nationally-ranked foes.

Back on December 5, Schmick became the ninth Warrior in program history since 2004 to garner PSAC Wrestler of the Week honors and first since two-time All-American Mike Raccioppi back on January 6, 2020.
