BLOOMSBURG – Led by four hat-trick performances, the No. 13/9 East Stroudsburg University lacrosse team took down Bloomsburg, 17-8, for ESU head coach
Xeni Barakos-Yoder's 100th career win on Wednesday afternoon at Steph Pettit Stadium.
With the win, the Warriors (13-3, 9-2 PSAC East) enter Saturday's regular-season finale at Kutztown with just two conference losses. The Huskies (6-10, 3-7 PSAC East) fall in its fourth straight in its home finale.
Madison Bagatta led seven goal scorers with six points on three goals and three assists.
Kiki Fitzpatrick and
Jolee Roth both produced a hat trick and distributed an assist.
Notables
- Emily Mitarotonda found the back of the cage three times, now with 196 career goals. Hannah Schiemer posted two goals and an assist, while fellow freshman Lauren Hallman also tallied multiple goals. Sophia Graffeo rounded out the seven goal scorers with a goal.
- Defensively, Maggie Sell was a force, causing six turnovers an eight ground balls.
- Along with her three goals, Mitarotonda collected seven ground balls, four caused turnovers, and scooped four ground balls.
- ESU led 31-23 in shots, 24-20 on shots on goal, 23-16 on ground balls and 5-1 on free-position shots.
- In the cage, GK Riley DiFiore was exceptional once again, making 12 saves.
- Barakos-Yoder becomes just the second Warrior head coach to reach the 100-win milestone, joining all-time wins leader and current ESU field hockey head coach Sandy Miller. Barakos-Yoder needs seven wins to surpass Miller as the all-time leader in Warrior lacrosse wins.
How It Happened
- ESU scored the first three goals of the contest, with Graffeo, Schiemer and Fitzpatrick each finding the net during the first 10 minutes. BU closed the quarter with its first goal with 3:39 to play.
- The Warriors opened the scoring in the second quarter with goals from Hallman and Mitarotonda before the Huskies could answer at the 6:44 mark. Over the final five minutes, ESU scored three of the final five goals in the half to take an 8-4 lead into the intermission.
- After trading goals to start the third, ESU took full control with a 3-0 run to grab a 12-5 edge. With just 48 seconds left in the third period, Bloomsburg posted its sixth goal, to make it a 12-6 contest.
- With 15 minutes to play, the Huskies started the final quarter strong with the first goal, before ESU used a four-goal run to take a 10-goal lead with 3:05 to play. BU scored the final goal with just under two minutes left.

- The Warriors close the regular season at Kutztown on Saturday. The opening draw with the Golden Bears is set for 1:00 p.m. With KU's loss to West Chester on Wednesday, Saturday's result will ultimately determine the second and third seeds in the PSAC East.
