LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After being named the PSAC East Pitcher of the Year last week, the accolades continue to pile in for East Stroudsburg University's
Paige Zigmund became the first Warrior in program history to be named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region First Team, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Zigmund is in the midst of one of the best seasons by a Warrior hurler in program history, entering the NCAA Tournament with a program-best 21-5 record and a 2.23 ERA. She has been exceptional all season, allowing three earned runs or less in 23 of 28 appearances on the season.
The three-Time PSAC East Pitcher of the Week ranks fourth in batting average against (.231), innings pitched, strikeouts, while leading all pitchers in the PSAC with 21 victories.
The Bethlehem native needs seven strikeouts to break single-season record, with 160 in 169.2 innings in 2023.
Zigmund becomes the first Warrior to earn all-region first team honors from the organization, with Marah Range taking home NFCA All-Region Second Team honors in 2021. She is the first Warrior to be named to the first team since Marry Wallick (3B) in 2017. The only other Warriors that have been named NFCA All-Region First Team include Jen Veronesi (2007, SS) and Ashley Miller (2006, OF).
Zigmund and the Warriors open the NCAA Tournament at Creekview Park on Thursday, battling Bowie State at 11:00 a.m.
