EAST STROUDSBURG – Highlighted by six home games at Eiler-Martin Stadium, including two night games, the East Stroudsburg University football team released its 2023 schedule on Friday.
The Warriors will open the season at home against Pace (Thurs., Aug. 31), taking on the Setters for the third consecutive season, with the two foes splitting wins each of the past two campaings. The Warriors defeated Pace, 35-14, in its most recent meeting in the Poconos in 2021.
Following the battle with its lone non-PSAC opponent, the Warriors will head to defending PSAC Champion IUP on Sept. 9. ESU nearly knocked off the eventual nationally-ranked and NCAA Tournament team at Eiler-Martin Stadium a season ago, falling, 38-35 after a late Crimson Hawk field goal.
ESU returns home for Family Weekend on Sept. 16, seeking its fifth consecutive win against Seton Hill. The Warriors will then open PSAC East play on the road with back-to-back road trips against Lock Haven (Sept. 23), and Kutztown (Sept. 30).
Homecoming is up next for the Warriors, hosting the Marauders (Oct. 7) at 6:05 p.m. under the lights to open October. ESU hits the road once again with a trip to West Chester on Oct. 14.
After road games in three of the past four weeks, ESU closes the regular season with three home games over the final four weeks. The Warriors look to close the season strong with home games with Bloomsburg (Oct. 21) and Shippensburg (Oct. 28), before trekking to West Virginia for a matchup with Shepherd on Nov. 4.
ESU hopes to play in the PSAC Championship game on Nov. 11 at Eiler-Martin Stadium, but is scheduled to host California (Pa.) for Senior Day with a 1:05 p.m. kickoff in the Poconos.
