How it Happened vs. New Haven
  • It was all New Haven to open the match as the Chargers opened seven-point leads at 9-2 and 12-5 before ESU called a timeout. Out of the break, the Warriors produced a 9-5 run which cut the deficit to three points at 17-14. ESU got within two (17-15) following a New Haven timeout, but the Chargers closed out the set on an 8-2 run to win 25-17 for a 1-0 edge in the match.

  • With the score tied at 7-7, the Warriors scored three straight points but not before a 4-0 run by New Haven gave the Chargers a 12-11 lead. ESU answered back by scoring six of the next eight points to jump back ahead 17-14, but New Haven kept it close with a 6-4 spurt to stay within one, 21-20. A timeout helped ESU regroup as the Warriors finished off the set with a 4-1 run (25-21) to even the match at 1-1.

  • New Haven held a slight lead at 7-4 to start the third set until the Warriors chipped away to tie it up, 9-9. ESU continued to roll grabbing a 17-13 lead after scoring eight of the next 12 points, but the Chargers responded with a 7-0 run to regain a 20-17 edge. However, it was all ESU the rest of the way with the Warriors producing an 8-2 run, which included scoring the final five points, to take the set 25-22 for a 2-1 advantage.

  • The Chargers came out on fire in the fourth set using nine kills to help them grab a 14-4 lead. ESU would battle back, trimming the deficit to six points at 16-10, 17-11, 18-12, 19-13 and 21-15 before a 3-0 run got the Warriors within striking distance (22-18). The Warrior continued their momentum out of a New Haven timeout, making the score 23-21 until the Chargers produced back to back kills to force a fifth set.

  • With New Haven ahead 5-4, the Warriors took advantage of three straight errors by the Chargers to go up 7-5. Out of a timeout, ESU continued to outpace New Haven, extending the lead to 11-8 until two quick points got the Chargers within one, 11-10.
