LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- East Stroudsburg University volleyball standout Anna Coulter has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Pete Nevins Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earning the conference's highest student-athlete honor. She becomes the first volleyball player and first female student-athlete in program history to receive the award, joining Matt Tholis (track & field), who earned the honor in 2012-13.
The PSAC Pete Nevins Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards are presented to the top student-athletes who have achieved at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average while competing at an outstanding athletic level. Student-athletes must have been recognized as a conference Fall, Winter or Spring Top Ten Award Winner to be eligible for the honor. The Pete Nevins Scholar Athlete of the Year awards are nominated for and voted on by the athletic communication professionals at each of the 17 institutions in the PSAC. The award is named after the late Pete Nevins, who served as sports information director at East Stroudsburg for more than 30 years. The award was renamed in 2007 to honor Pete Nevins legacy, after his passing earlier that year. Nevins held his position at ESU for 33 years and it is estimated that he wrote articles on more than 12,000 ESU events that covered more than 5,000 student-athletes.
