WORCESTER, MA. – Using a pair of second half goals, the top-ranked East Stroudsburg University field hockey team pulled away to take down No. 6 Assumption, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.
The Warriors improved to 2-0 and extended their win streak to nine games dating back to November 5, 2022. The Greyhounds dropped to 0-2 early in the season after facing #3 West Chester yesterday evening.

- Assumption got on the board at the 12:39 mark in the first quarter with a goal from May van Woundenberg following a penalty corner pass from Callie Beauparlant
- Senior Hanna Lewis tied the game at 1-1 with 16:26 on the clock, scoring off a redirected shot from senior Madison Kline for her fourth goal of the season and 16th of her career
- Less than two minutes later, Lia Parker put the Warriors ahead 2-1, scoring a goal off a pass from senior Grace Lesh. The graduate student found the back of the net for the second time of the afternoon at the 39:08 mark.
- Kline scored the Warriors third goal of the second period when she tipped in a long pass from Charlotte Simon
- The Greyhounds trimmed away at their deficit late in the first half when Lily Daley scored on a pass from Elle Murray to make the score 3-2
- Graduate student Nicole Krozser sealed the game in the fourth quarter with her first goal of the season to make the final score 5-2
- Lesh finished with a pair of assists while Maddy Barbush, Simon and Kline were each credited with one
- Playing all 60 minutes, senior Amy Supey moved to 2-0 on the season and registered her 38th career victory in goal
- The Warriors totaled more shots (34-4), shots on goal (24-2) and penalty corners (16-4) than Assumption. Paige Gillette kept the Greyhounds in the game with an impressive 17 saves.
- Head coach Sandy Miller collected her 481st career victory this afternoon, needing six more wins to move into third all-time in NCAA Division II

12:39 | Assumption cashed in on their third straight penalty corner when Beauparalant hammered home the entry pass from van Woudenberg to give the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead.
16:26 |Lewis tied the game at 1-1 less than two minutes into the second corner as she got a stick on an initial blast from Kline that redirected into the back of the cage.
18:05 | After receiving the entry pass off the penalty corner from Lesh, Parker drove to the right with the ball and delivered a rising shot over the head of the goalkeeper to give the Warriors the lead at 2-1.
19:56 | Simon delivered the ball from 10 yards outside the circle, and it made its way through the defense before being redirected by the stick of Kline to extend ESU's advantage to 3-1.
26:09 | Dribbling up the right side of the Warriors' defense, Murray inserted a pass into the offensive circle that was perfectly deflected by Daly to get Assumption within one at 3-2 late in the first half.
39:08 | ESU regained a two-goal lead over midway through the third quarter when Parker blasted home her second of the contest following passes from Lesh and Barbush.
54:58 | Krozser put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter when the goalkeeper ran out at her before making a dribble move to her right and unleashing a shot to make the score 5-2.
