EAST STROUDSBURG – Behind a second half surge, the top-ranked East Stroudsburg University field hockey team rolled to an 8-1 victory over #8 Adelphi in the Warriors' home opener on Tuesday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
ESU, who scored seven goals in the second half, moved to 3-0 with the victory and stretched their win streak to 10 games dating back to November 5, 2022 while the Panthers fell to 1-2.
Through the first three games of the season, the Warriors have outscored their opponents, 20-4.
Notables
- Junior Allyson Forman got the scoring for ESU with her first goal of the season off a dish from freshman Minke Klijn to put the Warriors ahead 1-0
- Less than two minutes into the second half, senior Grace Lesh scored her second goal of the year to put the Warriors up 2-0. At the 34:40 mark, senior Madison Kline extended ESU's edge to 3-0 as graduate student Lia Parker earned the assist on both goals.
- Klijn registered her first career collegiate goal midway through the third quarter which put the Warriors in front 4-0
- Graduate student Nicole Krozser scored the Warriors fourth goal of the third quarter and found the back of the cage for the second time at the 48:15 mark to give ESU a 6-0 lead
- A pair of freshmen in Romee Peters (51:03) and Isabella Kwiatkowski (52:06) each found the back of the cage in the fourth quarter to bolster the Warriors' advantage
- Klijn and Parker were both credited with a pair of assists while Jady van Gils, Charlotte Simon, and Karaline Stelma each had one
- Playing nearly 50 minutes in goal, senior Amy Supey improved to 3-0 on the year and notched her 39th career victory. Freshman Jet Vermeulen recorded one save in 10+ minutes.
- Adelphi's goalkeeper Amanda Montiel made 15 saves
- ESU dominated the play, outshooting the Panthers, 40-5 overall and 25-2 in shots on goal. The Warriors held the edge in penalty corners, 14-2.
- Head coach Sandy Miller totaled her 482nd career victory today, needing five more wins to move into third all-time in NCAA Division II
