EAST STROUDSBURG – The top-ranked East Stroudsburg University field hockey team dominated possession and used stingy defense to blank New Haven, 3-0, on Friday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
The Warriors improved to 4-0 and extended their win streak to 11 games dating back to November 5, 2022, while the Chargers dropped to 1-2.
The Warriors have outscored their opponents, 23-4, and outshot them 134-12 through the first four games of the 2023 season.
Notables
- Graduate student Nicole Krozser got the scoring started less than two minutes into the game to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead
- Senior Lisa Larsson extended ESU's lead to 2-0 at the 17:34 mark with her first goal of the season
- The Warriors made the final score 3-0 at the 50:26 mark when senior Hanna Lewis redirected an initial shot from senior Madison Kline for her team-leading fifth goal of the year
- Graduate student Lia Parker (3), junior Jady van Gils (2) and Kline (3) each tallied an assist
- Despite not facing a shot in 60 minutes, senior Amy Supey moved to 4-0 and recorded her first shutout of the year. Today's solo shutout was the eighth of Supey's career, moving her closer to the current record held by Maddie Richie (12).
- Using a different goalkeeper in each half, New Haven's Hallie Reiger (11) and Ally Saigh (7) combined for 18 saves
- ESU held huge advantages in shots (39-0), shots on goals (21-0) and penalty corners (13-0). The last time the Warriors held an opponent to zero shots was back on October 7, 2017, vs. Mansfield.
- Head coach Sandy Miller recorded her 483rd career victory this afternoon, needing four more wins to move into third all-time in NCAA Division II
