LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – After leading the East Stroudsburg University football team to its first shutout since 2012, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced on Monday that redshirt sophomore safety Everette Dingle was named the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Dingle recorded two interceptions in the contest and now has three picks over the past two games after an interception at Millersville the prior week. The Baltimore native also recorded five tackles, including a tackle for loss.

The Warrior defense held Bloomsburg to just 146 offensive yards, its lowest yardage output allowed since 2013. The defensive performance was highlighted by ESU's first shutout since 2012, when ESU opened the season with a 31-0 win over Lock Haven.

He ranks fourth among Warriors in tackles this season (30) and his three interceptions lead the squad. His three interceptions are tied for 11th in the nation and tied for second in the PSAC.

It's ESU's third conference weekly honor this season, after Tyriq Lewis was named the PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week in week two, while Justin Cook was honored last week as the PSAC East Special Team's Athlete of the Week.

The Warriors return home to Eiler-Martin Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 6:05 p.m. for its Homecoming matchup with West Chester.
