FROSTBURG, Md. – Trailing early, the No. 3 East Stroudsburg University field hockey team rallied with a quick equalizer in the 11th minute and clinched a 2-1 overtime victory against Frostburg State on Saturday evening at Bobcat Stadium.
The Warriors (12-2, 5-1 PSAC) notched their sixth consecutive win, moving into second place in the conference following Kutztown's loss to Mansfield. The Bobcats (4-9, 1-5 PSAC) dropped their third straight game.
Notables
- Kerry Kaufman scored both the tying and game-winning goals, bringing her season total to five. The Churchville native now has 13 points on the year. She answered FSU's opening goal just five minutes after, and found the back of the cage just 42 seconds into overtime.
- Jet Vermeulen earned her 10th win in 11 decisions, making a key second-half save. Sydney Pope started in goal, allowing the lone FSU score.
- ESU held a 6-4 edge in shots and a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Warriors claimed sole possession of second place in the PSAC standings as No. 2 Kutztown fell 2-1 to Mansfield.
