EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – For the second time this season, the No. 2 East Stroudsburg University field hockey team shut out No. 7 West Chester, 1-0. This edition came on a Tuesday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
The Warriors (14-3, 6-2) scored at the 9:04 mark in the second period to take a 1-0 advantage over the Golden Rams (11-6, 4-4), which would remain the final score.
Notables
Bella Viruet was the difference in the match, providing the lone goal to clinch the regular season sweep of West Chester. It was her third game-winning goal of the season.
Sydney Pope stopped the Golden Rams' lone shot with 43 seconds remaining in the second period to keep the score locked at 1-0. It was also the sixth combined shutout for Pope and
Jet Vermeulen.
The Warriors led the match in shots (11-2), shots on goal (5-1), and penalty corner opportunities (6-2).
