EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team bounced back from a non-conference loss to Georgian Court with a 3-1 victory over Shippensburg on Saturday evening at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
The Warriors (4-2-2, 2-1-1 PSAC East) climbed to third place in the PSAC East standings with the win. The Raiders dropped to 2-6, 1-4 in conference play.
Notables
- Spain natives Cayetano Diaz and Ignasi Cucurella Tuset each tallied a goal and an assist. Cucurella Tuset opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the 38th minute, and Diaz followed with a goal in the 56th minute, finishing a pass from Hunter Stites.
- Benny Goodrich scored his first collegiate goal in the 58th minute to extend the lead.
- Shippensburg avoided the shutout in the 80th minute when Victor Vottero converted a penalty kick.
- Goalkeeper Helgi Hermannsson earned the win, making one save over 90 minutes. Shippensburg's Ryan Krumenacker recorded nine saves.
- The Warriors dominated the stat sheet, leading 26-5 in shots and 12-2 in shots on goal. ESU also held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
