ERIE, Pa. — The East Stroudsburg University volleyball team (20-8) fell in three sets (25-23, 25-18, 25-15) to Gannon (23-6) in the PSAC Semifinal round Saturday inside the Hagerty Family Events Center.
Notables:
- Anna Coulter and Hanna Garrison both had 10 kills. Coulter added five solo blocks, two block assists, and two aces. Garrison tallied 11 digs.
- Taylor Haan nearly had a double-double with 21 assists and nine digs. She also had two solo blocks and two block assists.
- Leonor Chambel had a team-high 13 digs and also recorded six assists.
- Seniors Rachel Abramson, Leonor Chambel, Taylor Haan, and Makaela McComas helped guide ESU to the PSAC Tournament semifinals each of the past four seasons, including an NCAA Tournament berth in 2021.
How It Happened:
- Set 1 (25-23): The closest of the three sets showcased huge runs for both teams. Down 24-21, the Warriors scored twice to make it a one-point game, but a Golden Knight kill stopped the comeback.
- Set 2 (25-18): Gannon opened with a 7-1 run, but ESU responded by steadily bringing the margin within two. However, the Golden Knights then went on a 6-1 run to make it 20-14 and put the set out of reach.
- Set 3 (25-15): ESU initially held a 4-3 lead until Gannon went on a 10-1 run to make the score 13-5 in favor of the Golden Knights, who eventually won the set by 10.
