MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – With the meet up for grabs heading into the final event, the East Stroudsburg University swimming team took first and third place in the 200-yard freestyle relay to edge Millersville 131.5-130.5 on Saturday afternoon at Pucillo Pool.
The Warriors (4-1) recorded their fourth win in five dual meets this season. The Marauders fell to 0-2 on the year.
Notables
- Vera Renshof took first in the 200-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle, and anchored ESU's winning 200-yard freestyle relay, helping secure the team victory. Renshof also achieved her third PSAC qualifying mark of the season in the 200 free and set a Pucillo Pool record.
- Anique Hazebroek earned first-place in the 1000-yard freestyle and placed third in the 100-yard freestyle. She led off the winning 200-yard freestyle relay.
- Brianna Wasem claimed first in the 50-yard freestyle with a season-best PSAC time of 25.09. She joined Renshof with a PSAC time in the 200 free and also swam in ESU's winning relay.
- Anna Stauffer posted a PSAC qualifying time with a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, while Avery Fohring won the 100-yard butterfly.
How It Happened
- 200 Medley Relay: ESU placed second and third, with the team of Ava Palochik, Kennedy Leveto, Fohring, and Renshof leading the way in second with a time of 1:51.69.
- 1000 Free: Hazebroek opened the individual events with a first-place finish (10:54.99). Alyssa Brown (11:43.75) and Ellie Parido (12:05.64) added three points by finishing fourth and fifth.
- 200 Free: Renshof (1:56.21) and Wasem (2:00.83) placed first and third, respectively, both achieving conference-qualifying times.
- 100 Back: Makenzie Spence (1:04.50) and Palochik (1:05.25) took second and third for ESU.
- 200 Fly: Engler tied for second (1:08.86), and Leveto added points with a fourth-place finish (1:09.01).
- 50 Free: Wasem led the field (25.09), while Stauffer placed fourth (26.21).
- 100 Free: Renshof claimed her second individual win (53.62), with Hazebroek finishing third (56.40).
- 200 Back: Spence led ESU in third (2:17.18), followed closely by Palochik in fourth (2:22.67).
- 200 Breast: Leveto finished second (2:31.39), and Engler took third (2:34.96).
- 500 Free: Stauffer claimed first (5:21.79) with a PSAC-qualifying time. Wasem added three points in third (5:31.23), and Brown took fifth (5:43.59).
- 100 Fly: Fohring led the way in first (1:01.71), scoring nine crucial points late in the meet. Emily Gambler (3rd, 1:02.72) and Nina Marchese (5th, 1:05.47) combined for additional points.
- 200 IM: Fohring (2:22.85) and Wang (2:25.0) took third and fourth to lead ESU.
- 200 Freestyle Relay: Trailing late, Hazebroek, Stauffer, Wasem, and Renshof combined for a time of 1:40.51, securing 11 points. ESU's B team of Palochik, Sophia Fishman, Gambler, and Leveto (1:44.46) placed third, helping ESU edge Millersville by one point.
