Warriors Take Down Kutztown, 3-0, Move Within Striking Distance of PSAC Tournament Berth

With a win at Mansfield and a Bloomsburg loss at Shippensburg on Saturday, East Stroudsburg University will clinch a spot in the PSAC Tournament.

EAST STROUDSBURG – Needing a win to keep its PSAC Tournament hopes alive, the East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team dominated Kutztown in a 3-0 victory on Wednesday evening inside Eiler-Martin Stadium.

With the win, the Warriors (7-3-7, 5-3-7 PSAC East) move ahead of Millersville for fifth place in the PSAC East standings and are now within striking distance of a PSAC Tournament berth with one regular season game remaining. The Golden Bears (9-4-4, 7-4-4 PSAC East) remain in third place with the loss.

Notables
  • Natalie Schooley extended her goal streak to four, finding the back of the net in the sixth minute. The reigning PSAC East Athlete of the Week has now scored six goals over her past four games and leads the team with seven this season.
  • Rebecca Kotula added insurance with a pair of impressive goals in the second half. The Wyomissing native has now registered at least one goal against all nine PSAC East teams in her career and ranks second on the team with six goals in 2024.
  • Schooley and Kotula are now tied for eighth all-time in program-history with 23 career goals with Sammi Jo Hughes (2012-15). The dynamic duo has now contributed over half (13 of 25) of ESU's goals this season.
  • Warrior goalkeeper Alizee Pertus made her second career start and first this season, picking up her first career shutout. The native of France made six saves to blank the Golden Bears.
  • KU's Cassidy Howes made four saves on the evening.
  • ESU led 11-9 on shots and 7-6 on shots on goal. Both squads had five corner kick opportunities.

PSAC Tournament Scenarios
  • ESU now sits in fifth place in the PSAC East with the win, holding 22 points. With a win at Mansfield and a Bloomsburg loss at Shippensburg on Saturday, the Warriors will vault into the PSAC Tournament, holding a head-to-head tiebreaker (1-0-1) against the Huskies.
  • If ESU ties or loses at Mansfield, or Bloomsburg wins or ties Shippensburg, the Huskies will earn the fourth and final seed in the PSAC Tournament.
NCAA DII Atlantic Region Rankings
  • Along with a potential trip to the PSAC Tournament, the Warriors were ranked No. 8 in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Rankings released prior to tonight's game.
  • ESU will find out its NCAA Tournament fate during the NCAA DII Women's Soccer Selection Show on Monday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.
