EAST STROUDSBURG – After a pair of shutouts and three wins in four starts to begin her senior season, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday that East Stroudsburg University's Paige Zigmund was named the first PSAC East Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Zigmund, the reigning PSAC East Pitcher of the Year, recorded a 3-1 record during ESU's (4-4) trip to Florida, tossing shutouts against Lynn and Palm Beach Atlantic, before seeing her 16-inning scoreless streak snapped by nationally ranked Nova Southeastern.
She registered a 2.74 ERA, 1.35 WHIP in 23 innings in Florida, striking out 17 batters while walking eight. She gave up just five extra-base hits and held foes to a .216 batting average.
Against non-nationally ranked foes on the trip in Lynn, Palm Beach Atlantic and Barry, the Bethlehem native combined to allow just one earned run and 10 hits in 18 innings (0.38 ERA).
The weekly honor for Zigmund is the fourth of her career, as she now owns the most PSAC East Pitcher of the Week honors in program history.
Zigmund and the No. 17 Warriors are set for their home opener on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. against Holy Family.
