EAST STROUDSBURG – Following the East Stroudsburg University women's tennis team first victory since October 14, 2019, graduate student Alessia Bianchini was tabbed as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the Week by the league office on Monday.

Bianchini, who earned the weekly honors for the first time in her career after playing 22 games for the Warriors women's soccer team from 2019-22, played a key role in the Warriors' first victory in 1,622 days as the graduate student finished the weekend 3-1 at No. 2 Singles and Doubles.

Bianchini and fellow classmate Sherin Paul breezed to an 8-1 triumph over Cedar Crest's Corinne O'Connor and Megan Fiedler to help the Warriors blank the Falcons, 9-0. In singles, the Caracas, Venezuela native knocked off Cedar Crest's Katherine Franzone in straight sets (6-3, 6-1), before rallying to defeat DeSales' Hope Hoppe (4-6, 0-6, 7-6).

Bianchini collects the first PSAC East weekly tennis award for ESU since Elina Joronen on April 10, 2023.

Bianchini and the Warriors open PSAC East play on Wednesday, April 3 as the Warriors travel to West Chester to battle the Golden Rams at 3:30 p.m.
