SPARKS, Md. – After earning IWLCA All-Region First Team honors earlier on Wednesday, East Stroudsburg University lacrosse senior midfielder
Emily Mitarotonda was named to the USA Lacrosse All-America First Team, the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Mitarotonda, who became the all-time PSAC leader in career goals and third in NCAA DII history against Kutztown in the regular season finale, led ESU in nearly every statistical category in 2024. Among national leaders, the Rockaway, N.J. native ranks first in free-position goals per game, third in goals per game, fourth in goals and points per game, fifth in caused turnovers per game and eighth in points per game as one if not the most productive player in NCAA Division II this season.
In 2024, Mitarotonda has totaled 86 goals, 24 assists, 110 points, 61 ground balls, 51 caused turnovers and 93 draw controls, which leads ESU in all categories. She is just nine goals away from becoming second all-time in NCAA DII history in goals, now with 302 in her career. She has also complied 73 assists for 375 career points. Defensively, she has scooped 209 ground balls, caused 151 turnovers and earned 370 draw controls through the past four seasons.
So far in 2024, Mitarotonda has earned USA Lacrosse All-America First Team, IWLCA All-Region First Team, PSAC East Athlete of the Year and All-PSAC East First Team honors.
Mitarotonda looks to lead ESU to a win against Kutztown in the NCAA First Round on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at West Chester's Vonnie Gros Field.
