NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – After leading the East Stroudsburg University lacrosse team to its third NCAA Semifinal appearance over the past four seasons, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced on Wednesday afternoon that senior midfielder Emily Mitarotonda and junior goalkeeper Abby Simonetti garnered IWLCA All-America First Team honors.

Mitarotonda becomes the first Warrior in program history to earn IWLCA All-America honors in all four seasons from the IWLCA and joins rare company at ESU to accomplish the feat. Mitarotonda becomes the fourth Warrior across all sports in athletic department history to earn All-America honors in all four seasons for the same organization/event, joining Karen Linck (1975-78, swimming, 50 free, 50 fly), Bob Seagraves (1976-79, swimming, 200 IM) and Kevin Ransom (1987-90, men's gymnastics, All-Around).

Mitarotonda was named to the IWLCA All-America Second Team as a freshman and has been selected to the IWLCA All-America First Team each of the past three seasons.

The Rockaway, N.J. native has shattered program single-season records in goals (95) and points (124), along with the PSAC record in goals. In 2024 she ranks first nationally in free-position goals per game, third in goals and goals per game, fourth in points per game, sixth in caused turnovers per game, and 19th in ground balls per game in NCAA Division II.

In her career, she ranks second all-time in NCAA Division II lacrosse history with 311 goals, standing just 11 goals from the all-time leader. She is NCAA DII's all-time leader in goals at one program, with all-time leader Sydney Tiemann posting a combined 321 goals at Maryville and McKendree.

Simonetti joins Mitarotonda on the IWLCA All-America First Team after a tremendous first season in the Red and Black. On the season, Simonetti ranks first in save percentage and saves, while ranking third in saves per game and eighth in goals-against average.

The Millington, Md. native becomes the first IWLCA First Team All-America goalkeeper in program history, joining Riley DiFiore (2023, 2nd Team), Tatyana Petteway (3x, 2017, 2019, 2021) and Stacey Heisey (1998, 2nd Team) as Warrior goalkeepers to earn All-America nods.

Mitarotonda and Simonetti look to lead ESU to a win in the NCAA Semifinals on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
