PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – After a scoreless first half, the second-ranked East Stroudsburg University field hockey team poured in three goals in a less than a five-minute span in the third quarter to defeat ninth-ranked Pace, 4-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Peter X. Finnerty Field.
The No. 2 Warriors (2-1) bounce back after a loss to No. 4 Assumption on Sunday. The Setters (0-3) drop their third consecutive contest to open the season.

ESU opened the second half with four unanswered goals to build a solid lead.
Jady van Gills led the Warriors with two goals, bookending scores for the Warriors. Jessica Siedel and Puck de Ruiter also found the back of the cage. It was van Gils that opened the scoring in the 36th minute, with Seidel (39th) and de Ruiter (40th) quickly adding goals after. van Gils tallied her second goal in the 52nd minute. Pace avoided a shutout with its lone goal coming with less than five minutes to play.
Allyson Forman, Elaiana Rivera-Lagalla and Roos Bijman all tallied assists.
ESU dominated with a 28-12 advantage in shots and an 18-10 mark on shots on goal.
The Warriors also held an advantage in penalty corners, by a 15-3 mark.
Jet Vermeulen earned the win for ESU in goal, making nine saves in the second half, while conceding just one goal. Pagliaroli Celese and Morgan Strecker combined for 14 saves for the Setters.
40th year head coach Sandy Miller registered her 499th career win in the contest.
