EAST STROUDSBURG – Holding a 4-2 lead at halftime, the third-ranked East Stroudsburg University field hockey team pulled away with four goals in the third quarter and added two more in the fourth to secure a 10-2 win over Saint Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
The No. 3 Warriors (4-1) recorded their third consecutive win. The Spartans fell to 1-4 on the season.
Notables
- Reigning NFHCA National Player of the Year Jady van Gils posted a career day, with a career-high of three goals and an assist to lead the Warriors' offense. Her seven points bested her previous high of five points set against Saint Anselm in the season opener. She paces ESU with 16 points through five games.
- Minke Klijn totaled two goals and an assist for five points, a career high. She now has 10 points this season on four goals and two assists.
- Allyson Forman tallied a goal and distributed a pair of assists for four points. She ranks second on the squad with four goals and has contributed a team-best four assists.
- Also contributing goals were Bella Viruet, Kerry Kaufman, Roos Bijman, and Logan Oswald. Kayla Minkon and Sydney Frantz also added assists.
- Nicola Van Vuuren and Phileine Langeveld led STAC with a goal each. Langeveld also assisted on a goal.
- ESU goalkeeper Jet Vermeulen allowed two goals and made a save in the first half. Sydney Pope (24:14) and Saar van Berkel (5:46) completed the second half without facing any shots on goal.
- The Warriors held significant advantages in shots (31-4), shots on goal (23-3) and penalty corners (25-3).
- STAC totaled 13 saves, with Madeline Schaefer making five saves while allowing four goals in the first quarter. Ailsa Ogilvie conceded six goals, making eight saves over the final three quarters.
- ESU's 10 goals are the most since Sept. 23, 2023, when the Warriors earned a 10-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan at Whitenight Field.

How It Happened
- ESU built a 4-0 lead in the opening quarter, with Klijn, van Gils, Kaufman, and Viruet all tallying goals in the opening period.
- STAC cut the deficit in half with their lone two goals in the second period.
- The Warriors were shut out in the second quarter but responded with two goals from van Gils and tallies from Forman and Bijman in the third.
- Holding an 8-2 lead in the fourth, Klijn registered her second goal of the day, while Oswald connected on her first goal as a Warrior to wrap up the scoring.
