WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The third-ranked East Stroudsburg University field hockey team opened downed sixth-ranked West Chester, 1-0, on Friday night at Vonnie Gross Field.
The Warriors (5-1) registered their fourth consecutive win in a rare non-conference matchup with WCU. The Golden Rams (4-2) see their four-game winning streak snapped in the loss.
Notables
- Kerry Kaufman was the lone goal scorer in the contest, tallying the game-winner in just the ninth minute of play. Emma Friend found Kaufman for her second goal of the season.
- Sydney Pope and Jet Vermeulen, the Warriors' goalkeepers, combined for a total of nine saves. Pope made five stops in the first half, while Vermeulen contributed four saves to complete the clean sheet.
- West Chester held a 17-9 advantage on shots and 9-7 edge on shots on goal. The Golden Rams also led in penalty corners by a 13-5 margin.
