SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 21 East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, falling, 3-0, to Shepherd on Saturday afternoon at the Shepherd Soccer Complex.
The Warriors (3-1-1, 2-1-1 PSAC East) look to bounce back against Lock Haven on Wednesday. The Rams (3-0-2, 3-0 PSAC East) move to the top of the PSAC East standings as the only team to win their first three conference matchups.
Notables
- Annabelle Wunderlich, Reagan Ackerman and Sarah Peternel all found the back of the net for SU. Lydia Gable assisted all three goals for the Rams. Shepherd led 1-0 at halftime after Wunderlich's opening goal in the 34th minute. Ackermann and Peternel added insurance with goals in the 54th and 65th minutes, respectively.
- Shepherd led 11-7 in shots, 8-3 on shots on goal and 6-2 in corner kicks.
- Warrior goalkeeper Emmy Clarkson made five saves in a rare loss for the junior. SU's Hannah Wilt countered with three saves.
- Abby James, Rebecca Kotula and Sophia Lowery all posted shots on target for ESU.
