NEWVILLE, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University women's swimming team opened the calendar year with a pair of second-place finishes at the John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invitational and the PSAC Last Chance Meet on Saturday inside Big Springs High School.
The Warriors scored 354 points in the morning session and 399 points in the last-chance meet. Kutztown took home first place in both meets, while IUP and Lock Haven rounded out the standings in third and fourth place, respectively.

Event 1 | 400-yard Medley Relay
ESU grabbed second and fourth place to earn 70 points. Ava Palochik, Kennedy Leveto, Anique Hazebroek and Vera Renshof clocked a 4:12.14 for runner-up honors.

Event 3 | 200-yard Individual Medley
Mackenzie Spence led four Warriors in the event, placing seventh with a time of 2:27.95.

Event 5 | 500-yard Freestyle
Nina Marchese finished second (5:36.82), while Alyssa Brown (4th, 5:50.29), Avery Fohring (5th, 5:50.78) and Emily Gambler (6th, 5:51.28) claimed fourth through sixth place.

Event 7 | 100-yard Backstroke
Hazebroek led eight Warriors with a 1:06.85 to finish fourth. Anna Stauffer and Briana Wasem (1:12.81) placed fifth, while Renshof (1:14.26) took ninth.

Event 11 | 200-yard Butterfly
Ellie Parido was ESU's lone competitor, earning third place in 2:25.70.

Event 13 | 50-yard Freestyle
Leveto (7th, 26.69) paced 10 Warriors in a field of 34. Fohring (12th, 27.28), Gambler (14th, 27.39) and Tamara Engler (16th, 27.73) combined for 17 more team points.

Event 15 | 400-yard Freestyle Relay
ESU closed the Pidgeon Memorial with third- and fifth-place finishes. Palochik, Stauffer, Sophia Fishman and Hazebroek led the Warriors to a time of 3:55.97 to place third.

Event 1 | 200-yard Freestyle Relay
Wasem, Hazebroek, Stauffer and Renshof placed third (1:42.54). Gambler, Leveto, Gabby Ciesla and Engler took sixth (1:50.59) for 25 additional points.

Event 3 | 400-yard Individual Medley
Hazebroek finished fourth (4:57.72), picking up her seventh conference mark. Rachel Heggenstaller followed in fifth at 5:32.15.

Event 5 | 100-yard Butterfly
Renshof placed sixth (1:06.28), while Marchese took eighth (1:07.08).

Event 7 | 200-yard Freestyle
ESU had three top-five finishers and five in the top 10. Ava Palochik claimed third (2:09.49), with Fishman (4th, 2:10.60) and Gambler (5th, 2:10.89) right behind. Spence (9th, 2:12.67) and Brown (10th, 2:15.48) also finished in the top 10.

Event 9 | 200-yard Backstroke
Grayauskie (5th, 2:23.76) and Kara Vachout (6th, 2:31.39) led a group of three Warriors in the event.

Event 11 | 200-yard Breaststroke
Stauffer (2:36.39) and Estep (2:38.18) captured second and third place, respectively.

Event 13 | 100-yard Freestyle
Engler (10th, 59.29) and Fishman (16th, 1:01.27) posted top ESU finishes.

Event 15 | 200-yard Medley Relay
The Warriors capped the meet taking third, fifth and sixth in the finale. Spence, Engler, Gambler and Renshof led the way in third with a time of 1:56.10.
