Women's Soccer Falls Short at No. 18 Bloomsburg, 2-1

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg women's soccer team's late push was not enough to defeat the No. 18 Bloomsburg Huskies on the road, falling 2-1 Wednesday evening. 
 
The Warriors fall to 5-6-3 overall and 3-6-3 in the conference, while the Huskies improved to 9-2-2 overall and 6-2-2 in the conference. 

Notables  
In the first half, ESU managed four shots with two on goal, while Bloomsburg posted six shots and found the net twice. In the second half, both teams recorded six shots with ESU's Megan Cairns finding the net at 68:13. This marked Cairns' first goal of the season and Bella Bowen's first assist. 

Mia Chapman, Jade Wiley, and Cairns each recorded two shots on goal while ESU goalkeeper Emmilia Clarkson made three saves.  

How it happened  
The Huskies opened the match with two early corner kicks and registered a single shot that missed high and left. Chapman took East Stroudsburg's first shot at 10:43. Bloomsburg found the net first around the 12-minute mark to take a 1-0 lead. The Warriors earned a corner at 19:26 and fired off three shots in the following three minutes, but none found the net. The Huskies posted three more shots before their fourth attempt found the back of the goal with just under four minutes remaining in the first half. East Stroudsburg entered halftime trailing by two.

In the second half, the Huskies again came out firing with two quick shots before the Warriors answered with a pair of attempts near the 59-minute mark. Wiley recorded her first shot on goal at 63:55, but it was saved. Cairns finally broke through for ESU at 68:13 with a deep shot and was assisted by Bella Bowen. Wiley added the final shot for the Warriors at 75:02, while Bloomsburg closed out the match with four more shots, only one of which was on target.

The Warriors return to action at Eiler-Martin Stadium for senior day on Saturday, October 26 against Kutztown with game time set for 4:00 p.m.
