Field Hockey Clinches Bye in Dominant Win Over Frostburg State

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The East Stroudsburg field hockey team could not have asked for a better final day of the regular season, drubbing Frostburg State 8-2 at home on senior day and clinching a first-round bye in the PSAC Championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Warriors put the game out of reach quickly, scoring three goals in the first quarter and going into halftime with a 4-0 lead. Logan Oswald got the scoring started in the third minute of the game, coming off a penalty corner and assist from Emma Friend as the seniors connected for the first goal shortly after they were both part of the senior day ceremony.
  • ESU would triple its lead in the final three minutes of the fame, getting an unassisted goal from Maddie Moline followed by one from Rylie McGrath off an Alex Eagles assist 70 seconds later.
  • East Stroudsburg got its fourth goal with another late-quarter score in the second quarter, this time from Minke Klijn. The junior recorded her first goal of the day with 80 seconds left before halftime, with McGrath picking up the assist.
  • The third quarter began with the team's trading a pair of goals each, starting with Emma Price and Mikyla Rineer for Frostburg State, and Emma Friend and Lisa Pasman for the Warriors. Friend scored a second time late in the quarter, with her goals being assisted by Hannah Schmittinger and Klijn.
  • The last goal of the game came in the final minute, as Klijn added her fifth point of the day on an unassisted goal as the last play of the game.
