PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg women's basketball team fell to Jefferson on the road Wednesday evening, 64-49.

Brie Droege led the team with 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and recorded a steal. Lacie Kringe scored eight points, grabbed three steals, posted one block, and grabbed five rebounds. Leading the team in steals was Jess Devine with four and in assists was Avery White with four. Caitlin Marten also grabbed seven rebounds and recorded two blocks.
How it happened
The teams traded early baskets in the first quarter, with a jumper from Marten keeping ESU within one at 7-6. Two more baskets from the Rams extended their lead to five points before Emma Thornton responded with a hook shot at the 2:28 mark. A late basket by White with 12 seconds remaining brought the Warriors within three, 13-10.
Both teams scored just one basket through the first six minutes of the second quarter. Baskets from Kringe and Peyton Long pulled the Warriors within one, 17-16. Kringe added a steal and score at 1:39, but a Jefferson free throw sent ESU into halftime trailing by two, 20-18.
Jefferson opened the second half with a jumper at 9:20 and White followed with a three pointer. ESU stayed within a point until the Rams surged ahead with a 21-0 run to close the third quarter.
Despite being down by 19 points going into the fourth quarter, the Warriors began with an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 11 points. Thornton's jumper at 7:21 cut the gap to 10 points. Over the next three minutes, the Rams built their largest lead of the night at 59-39. Brie scored her second basket of the quarter at 4:09 and was followed by a basket from Brooke at 3:05, 61-43. Late baskets from Droege, Devine, and Brooke brought ESU back within 13 at 62-49, however the Rams made two final free throws to end the game.
