Men's Soccer Shuts Out Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — The East Stroudsburg men's soccer team got two goals from Owen Rennie in a 2-0 win over Shippensburg on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Rennie got his first of the game early in the match, scoring in the third minute of play. Ryan Kiernan settled the ball near the midfield logo and hit Ethan Flickinger on a run down the left sideline. He was able to run into it and quickly send a crossing pass on the ground to Rennie all by himself and bury the chance to put ESU in the lead.
  • In the 23rd minute, Jace Seara was pressuring the Raiders in their own defensive end. Sprinting towards a free ball in the box, Seara was going to be the first to the ball but was tackled illegally by Ryan Krumenacker. The Warriors were awarded a penalty kick, Krumenacker guessed left, and Rennie shot right to double East Stroudsburg's lead.

GAME NOTES
  • Shots were even at 11 for each side, but ESU held a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Warriors also held a 5-2 lead in corner kicks.
  • Rennie leads the team in points with 18 off of seven goals and four assists, which is eighth in the PSAC and third in the division.
  • Phil Sykes made his sixth-straight start making four saves, and Kevin Kretschman also made his first appearance since Oct. 11.
