Women's Basketball Rolls to 75-56 Road Win Over Lincoln

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg women's basketball team used a strong third quarter to power past Lincoln Tuesday evening on the road, 75-56. 

The Warriors improve to 5-1 on the season and extend their win streak to three games while the Lions dropped to 1-6 overall. 

Notables 

Brie Droege led the floor with 17 points, grabbed five rebounds, and had a steal. Both Lacie Kringe and Emma Thornton scored 12 points and combined for 10 rebounds. Jess Devine scored 11 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and led the team with three steals.  

How it Happened 

Kringe made the first two baskets for the Warriors to tie the score at 4 each. The Lions second and final lead came at 6:30 off a free throw, 5-4. Brooke Droege made a jumper at 5:26 to put the Warriors in front for good. The Warriors then produced back-to-back steals and converted on both to build a 10-5 lead. Lincoln responded with a three pointer around the four minute mark, but Avery White answered with a basket to make it 12-8. Thornton and Brooke each added a basket to put ESU ahead by six heading into the second quarter, 16-10. 

Lincoln opened the second with consecutive baskets before Devine hit a three pointer at 7:42, 19-14. The teams traded baskets while Lincoln pulled within one point at 4:28, 23-22. The Warriors used a nine-point run to close out the first half, 32-22.  

Kringe, Brie Droege, and Caitlin Marten each scored early in the third to spark a run that extended the lead to 44-26. Lincoln added four points before the Warriors surged with a 10-point run, 53-30. Kringe's late layup stretched the lead to 27 before Lincoln scored in the final seconds, making it 59-34 entering the fourth.

The Lions put five points on the board before Brie made a three pointer at 9:01. The teams traded baskets before ESU's final points came on a layup by Kiera McKown with 49 seconds remaining.
