EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg women's basketball team came back after a slow start against Millersville to win 69-63 in overtime at Koehler Fieldhouse this afternoon.
The Warriors (10-11, 7-8) are now just one win behind the No. 2 team in the PSAC East, while the Marauders (13-9, 8-7) are now just a game ahead of ESU.
Notables
Emily Chmiel recorded a 20-point double-double, her 12th of the season. She also contributed two assists, a steal, and a block.
Brie Droege scored 16 points on 75% shooting, while adding five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Brooke Droege went 7-for-10 from the field for 15 points, with four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
How It Happened
The Marauders started strong, up 8-0 and eventually taking the first quarter 17-12.
Right before halftime, the Warriors finished with a 7-0 run, including five points from
Brie Droege, to outscore Millersville 26-24 at halftime.
A close third and fourth quarter saw both teams go back and forth, ending regulation tied at 58-58 and sending the game to overtime.
In the overtime period, Millersville hit the first basket, but back-to-back three-pointers from senior
Jessica Polin (pictured above) put the Warriors up by four points. Then,
Brooke Droege and Chmiel had three positive possessions to give the team a nine-point lead and eventually win 69-63.
