BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team fell to Bloomsburg, 63-54, Wednesday.
The Warriors (10-12, 7-9 PSAC) and the Huskies (15-9, 9-8) played each other close for most of the game, but a strong fourth quarter by Bloomsburg proved to be the difference.
Notables
Emily Chmiel posted a 25-point, 18-rebound double-double, bringing her season total to 18 double-doubles.
Brie Droege finished with 13 points, four rebounds, and two steals. She has now scored in double figures in eight straight games.
Efficiency was key as, despite the Huskies taking 16 fewer shots, they made two more than the Warriors.
How It Happened
After a back-and-forth start to the game with Bloomsburg leading 7-5, ESU closed out on an 8-4 run to lead 13-11 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was nearly as close, with ESU adding one point to its lead, holding a 26-23 advantage at halftime.
The third quarter began well for the Warriors, as an 11-7 run pushed their lead to seven. However, the Huskies responded with a 12-6 run, cutting the game to a one-point difference heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter, once Bloomsburg took a 46-45 lead with eight minutes to go, they never relinquished the advantage. Each time ESU would make it close, the Huskies answered, ultimately winning 63-54.
