WILMINGTON, Del. – The Warriors faced a tough road challenge on Saturday afternoon, falling 2-5 to nationally ranked Goldey-Beacom College at the Delcastle Tennis Center. The Warriors now hold a 6-4 record for the season, while Goldey-Beacom improves to 11-4.
How It Happened in Doubles
In No. 1 doubles,
Louise Boyer-Vidal and
Marketa Beladova fought hard but narrowly lost 4-6 to Elizabeth Mova and Zehra Canbaz.
At No. 2 doubles,
Ariel Kelsick and
Lea Stefanovic were bested 0-6 by Nahomi Quinonez and Macy Hendin-Walker.
In No. 3 doubles, the Spanish duo of
Bega Gotor and
Claudia Ermina faced a tough challenge and fell 0-6 to Sofia Lopez and Lucia Corte.
How It Happened in Singles
In No. 1 singles,
Marketa Beladova dropped her first singles match of the season in a nail-biting super tiebreaker against Elizabeth Mova (6-1, 3-6, 13-15).
Lea Stefanovic continued her strong form at No. 2 singles, earning a solid 6-2, 6-4 victory over Zehra Canbaz to improve to 5-0 this season.
At No. 3 singles,
Louise Boyer-Vidal fell 0-6, 4-6 to Nahomi Quinonez.
Ariel Kelsick delivered an impressive comeback performance at No. 4 singles, rallying from a first-set loss to defeat Sofia Lopez 0-6, 6-4, 10-5.
In No. 5 singles,
Bega Gotor was defeated 0-6, 1-6 by Lucia Corte.
Freshman
Gianina Speranza now holds a 5-5 record after falling 1-6, 3-6 to Macy Hendin-Walker at No. 6 singles.
