EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University women's tennis team earned its first 7-0 sweep of the spring season against Molloy.
The Warriors (7-4) continued their strong spring with a nonconference sweep of the Lions (1-11).
How It Happened – Doubles
At No. 1 doubles,
Louise Boyer-Vidal and
Marketa Beladova rebounded to defeat Elena Baughman Saunders and Erin Sanchez 6-3.
At No. 2 doubles,
Ariel Kelsick and
Lea Stefanovic swept Alice Fartushynska and Ashley Bonilla 6-0, closing out the doubles matches for the Warriors.
At No. 3 doubles,
Gianina Speranza and
Claudia Ermina earned points for the Warriors by forfeit.
How It Happened – Singles
At No. 1 singles, Beladova took the first set quickly, 6-1, before securing a competitive 6-4 win over Baughman Saunders.
Stefanovic outlasted Sanchez in a marathon match at No. 2 singles. After splitting the first two sets, 6-4, 4-6, she dominated the third set, 10-1, to remain unbeaten in singles play this season.
At No. 3 singles, Boyer-Vidal cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Fartushynska.
At No. 4 singles, Kelsick picked up her fourth straight singles win, defeating Bonilla 6-1, 6-2.
At No. 5 singles, Ermina swept Taylor Gunnip 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 6 singles, ESU won by forfeit, with
Bega Gotor representing the Warriors.
