BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team battled Bloomsburg until the final buzzer but came up short, falling 60-57 in the first round of the PSAC Championships on the road.

Emily Chmiel, in her final game as a Warrior, recorded a 20-point double-double, finishing with 23 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, and a steal while shooting 60% from the field. Chmiel ends her historic season with 625 points (1st), 344 rebounds (3rd), and 24 double-doubles, cementing one of the best individual campaigns in program history.
Brie Droege capped her freshman season by shooting 50% from the floor, scoring 14 points, dishing six assists, and grabbing five rebounds.
Brooke Droege, also wrapping up an impressive freshman year, shot 67% and finished with 11 points.
Corrin Gill played all 40 minutes in her final game, tallying seven points on 60% shooting, five assists, and four steals.
How it happened
Bloomsburg took control early, opening the game on a 10-1 run and leading the first quarter 18-7. The Warriors responded in the second quarter with a 15-3 run to take a 22-21 lead behind seven points from
Brie Droege. However, the Huskies regained momentum and entered halftime up by five.
The third quarter remained tight, with neither team leading by more than two possessions. After Bloomsburg extended its lead to four,
Brie Droege and
Caitlin Marten scored back-to-back baskets to tie the game at 39-39 entering the fourth.
ESU took an early lead just 34 seconds into the final quarter, but Bloomsburg responded and held the advantage until the 3:39 mark, when
Brie Droege tied the game again with a three-pointer. The Huskies immediately answered and maintained their lead the rest of the way. The Warriors stayed within striking distance, cutting the deficit to two multiple times, but Bloomsburg held on to advance.
This game marked the final appearance in a Warrior uniform for
Adrine Demirciyan,
Cassidy Saylor,
Izzy Vogel,
Katie Geisler,
Corrin Gill and
Emily Chmiel, all of whom represented ESU with pride throughout their careers.
