STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University women's tennis team advanced to the PSAC Semifinals with a 4–1 victory over Millersville University on Tuesday afternoon at Stroudsburg High School.
The Warriors qualified for the PSAC Quarterfinals for the first time since the 2017–18 season and have now advanced to the Semifinals for the first time since the 1979–80 campaign, when they captured the PSAC Championship under Head Coach Charles Wolbers.
How it Happened in Doubles
No. 3 Doubles:
Bega Gotor and
Claudia Ermina earned the first doubles point by forfeit, giving ESU the early advantage.
No. 2 Doubles:
Ariel Kelsick and
Lea Stefanovic set the tone with a dominant 6–2 win over Luci Consigliere and Chloe Abramowitz to clinch the doubles point.
No. 1 Doubles:
Marketa Beladova and
Louise Boyer-Vidal were tied 4–4 with Hui Jen Soo and Lauren Hayes when the match was left unfinished.
How It Happened in Singles (finish order)
No. 6 Singles:
Bega Gotor collected the first singles point by forfeit.
No. 1 Singles:
Marketa Beladova cruised to a straight-sets win, 6–4, 6–1 over Hayes, continuing her undefeated singles season.
No. 5 Singles: Millersville earned its lone point from Sophie Lanius, who defeated
Gianina Speranza 7–5, 6–0.
No. 4 Singles:
Ariel Kelsick notched another straight-sets win for the Warriors, downing Consigliere 6–3, 6–4 to clinch the matchup and advance to the PSAC
semifinals.
No. 2 Singles:
Lea Stefanovic held a 6–4, 2–3 lead over Soo when the match was called unfinished.
No. 3 Singles:
Louise Boyer-Vidal split sets with Abramowitz, 6–4, 2–6, before play was halted.
