INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Committee has announced that East Stroudsburg University is among the 26 teams selected for the 2025 NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championship and will host No. 6 Frostburg State in the first round on Thursday, May 8, at 3 p.m at Whitenight Field.
The Atlantic Regional will be played at multiple sites. Following the first round, second-round games will be held at No. 1 seed West Chester and No. 3 seed ESU, with the Atlantic Region final hosted by the highest remaining seed.
The regional champion will advance to Kerr Stadium in Salem, Virginia, the site of the national semifinals and championship.
ESU (14-5) recently reached the PSAC semifinals, falling in overtime. Earlier in the tournament, the Warriors defeated Millersville, 13-9. Ranked No. 14 by the IWLCA entering the weekend, ESU ranks in the national top 25 in several statistical categories, including caused turnovers per game (20th), free position percentage (3rd), save percentage (1st), scoring margin (25th), scoring offense (24th) and winning percentage (17th).
Frostburg State (13-6) recently won the Mountain East Conference title with a 17-1 victory over Wheeling and a 13-11 win against Dominican (CA), claiming its third consecutive conference championship. This marks the Bobcats' second NCAA tournament appearance and first since qualifying for the Division III tournament in 1992.
With a win, ESU would advance to the second round for a matchup on Saturday, May 10, at 3 p.m. against No. 2 seed Slippery Rock.
