LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — East Stroudsburg University student-athlete
Jady van Gils has been chosen as one of two nominees from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference for the 2025 NCAA Woman of the Year Award. The prestigious honor celebrates graduating student-athletes who have demonstrated excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, and community service throughout their collegiate careers.
Van Gils is joined by Slippery Rock's Anna Igims as a conference nominee. Established in 1991, the NCAA Woman of the Year Award continues to recognize women who have left a lasting impact on their universities and communities.
Athletic Excellence
A standout on the ESU Field Hockey team, van Gils concluded her career with a collection of high honors and record-setting performances. She earned consecutive PSAC Athlete of the Year and NFHCA Division II Player of the Year awards in 2024 and 2025. Her name is etched in the ESU record books with the second-most career starts, third-most assists, and 12th-most career points.
She was twice named a Division II Honda Athlete of the Year finalist and is a three-time NFHCA First Team All-American and PSAC All-Conference selection.
Commitment to Service and Leadership
Off the field, van Gils invested her time in several service and leadership initiatives. She served on ESU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, contributed to the university's field hockey camps, and volunteered at a Pediatric Medical Daycare Center in her native Netherlands.
Academic Achievement
Pursuing a degree in Sport Management, van Gils maintained a 3.79 GPA. Her academic honors include CSC Academic All-America Third Team recognition, the D2ADA Academic Achievement Award in 2024, two PSAC Fall Top 10 accolades, and four PSAC Scholar-Athlete distinctions.
The NCAA Woman of the Year selection process will continue as conferences submit their nominees to the national committee. Finalists will be honored during the NCAA awards celebration later this year.
