SPARKILL, N.Y. – The East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team collected a 3-3 draw with St. Thomas Aquinas College on Wednesday afternoon at Spartan Field.
The Spartans were the first to get on the board with a goal by senior Kevon Evans (Ossining, N.Y.) in the 11
th minute.
Freshman
Owen Rennie deadlocked the score for the Warriors in the 17
th minute when he found the back of the net off an assist from senior
Ethan Flickinger.
St. Thomas Aquinas re-gained the lead in the 22
nd minute as senior Uhunoma Fredrick-Ilekhuoba (Lagos, Nigeria) put home his first of two goals on the day to give the Spartans the 2-1 advantage.
East Stroudsburg netted back-to-back tallies, one on a penalty kick by sophomore
Darryl Longdon in the 44
th minute and then sophomore
Jace Seara scored to give the Warriors the 3-2 lead.
Fredrick-Ilekhuoba scored in the 81
st minute for the Spartans to knot the match at 3-3, the eventual final.
The Warriors held a slight 14-13 edge in shots and in corner kicks, 4-3.
Junior
Kevin Kretschman made two saves in goal for East Stroudsburg while freshman Dante Muntane (Rosario, Argentina) converted six saves for St. Thomas Aquinas.
East Stroudsburg (3-1-1 overall) stays on the road to face Queens College on Tuesday, September 23 at 7:00 p.m. St. Thomas Aquinas (1-2-2 overall) will next play at Daemen University on Saturday, September 20 at 2:30 p.m.
