9/2/2025 9:26:00 AM

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – After a hard-fought season opener, the East Stroudsburg University (ESU) Warriors shift their focus to a familiar opponent as they prepare to face Pace University on Thursday, September 4, in East Stroudsburg, Pa. The matchup offers ESU an opportunity to bounce back and extend their recent dominance in the series.

Series History: Since the first meeting in 2010, ESU and Pace have squared off six times, with the Warriors holding a commanding 5-1 lead in the all-time series. The Warriors have averaged an impressive 44.5 points per game against the Setters, highlighted by a 57–0 season-opening victory in 2010 and a 62–9 rout at Eiler-Martin Stadium in 2023. In their most recent meeting last season, ESU rolled to a 41–6 win on the road, marking their second straight victory and extending their current streak to two games.

Last Matchup: On September 5, 2024, ESU traveled to Pleasantville and delivered a dominant performance, outscoring the Setters 41–6. The Warriors broke the game open in the third quarter, scoring 21 unanswered points and showcasing their offensive power. The defense was equally impressive, holding Pace scoreless for the final three quarters.

Key Performers to Watch:
Quarterback Sean McTaggart returns to lead the ESU offense after a steady season opener, where he flashed glimpses of his dual-threat potential against Edinboro. With a game under his belt and a deeper rhythm developing, McTaggart is poised to take the next step against a Pace defense that had no answers for him last season. Expect him to push the tempo and make a statement as the Warriors look to reignite their offensive firepower
Wide receiver Evan Roche, who led the team with five catches for 67 yards in the opener, remains a reliable target on the outside. Running back Deante Crawford adds a dynamic rushing element, while All-PSAC honorees Ty Quintois (kicker) and Beau Heyser (tight end) provide stability in the kicking game and passing attack.
Defensively, ESU boasts a talented group featuring First Team All-PSAC selection Everette Dingle in the secondary, as well as key contributors Jake Williamson, Malachi Bowman, and Adam Noll. The Warriors will look to build on their strong defensive effort from last year's matchup with Pace, where they allowed just six points.

Storylines: After showing resilience in their season opener, the Warriors are eager to get back in the win column and continue their recent success against Pace. With a potent offense, experienced playmakers, and a history of strong performances in this series, ESU enters the contest with confidence. Limiting early mistakes and capitalizing on scoring opportunities will be key as the Warriors look to maintain their upper hand over the Setters and set the tone for the rest of the season.
Kickoff is set for Thursday, September 4, in East Stroudsburg, Pa, as ESU aims to keep its momentum rolling against a familiar rival.
