ESU Women’s Volleyball Goes 3-0 in Weekend Quad Match at Koehler Fieldhouse

EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University dropped just one set in a 3-0 weekend in its first home action of the women's volleyball season, topping Southern New Hampshire, Queens (N.Y.) and Georgian Court in non-conference matches on Friday and Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse.

The Warriors (9-2) swept SNHU and Queens before winning 3-1 vs. Georgian Court after dropping the opening set in the final match on Saturday night.

ESU hit .326 with 129 kills and 31 attack errors on 301 attacks, compiled 30 aces and 22 blocks across 10 sets of action. The Warriors limited their opponents to just .096 (88 kills, 58 errors, 314 attacks), 15 aces and seven blocks.

Senior middle blocker Anna Coulter, who reached 1,000 career kills earlier in the week, had 34 kills and a .476 hitting percentage (four errors, 63 attacks), along with 14 blocks (two solo). Sophomore outside hitter Kelly Crites notched 33 kills (.250) and 10 digs, and junior outside hitter Romina Martinez had 29 kills (.266) and 18 digs for the Warriors.

Juniors Kata Kovacs (61 assists, 19 digs, 7 aces) and Kyra Bishop (49 assists, 7 block assists, 7 kills) split the setting duties, and freshman libero Marta Leeland had 50 digs, 10 assists and seven aces.

ESU 3, Southern New Hampshire 0 (25-4, 25-21, 25-13) – ESU opened the match with 20 of the first 21 points, including 16 straight on the serve of sophomore Taylor Wise.

Coulter had 14 kills on 22 attacks and six blocks, and Crites and Martinez had eight kills each. Bishop had 19 assists, Kovacs had 14, and Leeland had 16 digs. Wise recorded three aces and nine digs. The Warriors hit .418 and held SNHU to .023.

ESU 3, Queens 0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-16) – Coulter (11 kills, 4 blocks) and Martinez (nine kills) led the hitters, Kovacs had 21 assists and three aces, and Bishop had 13 assists. Leeland posted 13 digs and four aces, Wise had eight digs, and freshman middle blocker Kailynn Dupree had five kills and three blocks.

ESU 3, Georgian Court 1 (22-25, 25-12, 25-22, 25-20) – Crites posted 19 kills and a .395 hitting percentage to lead the Warriors. Martinez had 12 kills and nine digs, and Coulter notched nine kills and four blocks. Kovacs (26 assists, 8 digs), Bishop (17 assists) and Martinez (21 digs, 7 assists) all made key contributions in the only four-setter of the weekend.
