EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University women's soccer team secured a 1-0 shutout victory over No. 21 Bloomsburg University in a PSAC East match on Wednesday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
Sophomore
Jade Wiley (Somerdale, N.J.) tallied the eventual game-winner in the 42
nd minute, scoring low right, off an assist from junior
Sydney Hornberger (Ephrata, Pa.) to put the Warriors ahead 1-0.
Senior Emmy Clarkson (Frederick, Md.) recorded a pair of saves in the win while senior Samantha Merklin (Effort, Pa.) made four stops in goal for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg held a slight 10-9 edge in shots and had 11 corner kicks to East Stroudsburg's one.
East Stroudsburg (2-1-3 overall, 1-1-3 PSAC East) will remain home to host Shippensburg University on Saturday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m. Bloomsburg (5-1-1 overall, 2-1-1 PSAC East) returns to the pitch on Saturday at home against Shepherd University at 6:00 p.m.
