EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team pulled away in the third quarter to secure a 75-57 win over West Chester in Thursday night's Whiteout game.
With this win, the Warriors improved to 12-8 on the season and 7-6 in conference play, while the Golden Rams dropped to 9-9 overall and 5-7 in the PSAC.

Brie Droege recorded her third career double-double with a season high of 27 points and a career high of 12 rebounds. Brie also added two assists, one steal, and one block. Emma Thornton posted a career high of 20 points and nine rebounds, while adding an assist and two steals. Avery White rounded out the top scoreres with 16 points, two steals, three assists, and two rebounds. Jess Devine added six points, four rebounds, two steals, and three assists.
ESU totaled 26 points off the bench, shot 46.8% from the field, and was perfect from the free throw line, converting all 13 attempts.
How it Happened
White opened the scoring for the Warriors with two jumpers while WCU got out to a 7-4 lead around the 7:21 mark. A layup from Brie and back-to-back baskets from Thornton gave the Warriors a 10-9 edge midway through the quarter. White added a three-pointer and a layup before a final free throw from WCU tied the score at 15 each.
Devine scored twice early in the second quarter, and Droege knocked down a three to give ESU a 22-17 advantage. After the Warriors added two more baskets, West Chester responded with an 8-0 run to regain the lead in the final minute. Brie responded to the Golden Rams three-pointer with one of her own to send ESU into halftime ahead, 29-28.
The Warriors opened the third quarter with a 10-0 run to go up 39-29. Although the Golden Rams briefly cut the deficit to eight, ESU closed the period strong to extend its lead to 54-37. The Warriors outscored West Chester 25-9 in the quarter.
At 8:24 in the fourth quarter, Thornton completed a three-point play to push ESU's lead to 19 points. Consecutive baskets from White extended ESU's advantage to 22 points, 64-42. Brie and Thornton each added a basket before the quarter ended with free throws from White and Brie.
