FROSTBURG, Md. — The ESU field hockey team bounced back in conference play with a 2-0 win over Frostburg State, taking down the Bobcats on the road early Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The game was still tied 0-0 after a scoreless first half, despite the Warriors getting a handful of looks in the first two quarters. Senior forward
Rylie McGrath had three shots on goal, while junior back
Alex Bandura had another, but Janna Yazzetti came up with four stops for the Bobcats.
ESU broke the game open right out of halftime, scoring two quick goals. After another shot by McGrath was stopped by Yazzetti, sophomore forward
Lisa Pasman scored off the rebound 1:37 into the third quarter. Less than three minutes later, the Warriors were awarded a penalty stroke. Freshman defender
Bailey Griffin stepped up for ESU, burying the chance to double the lead.
The Bobcats pressed for a goal to cut their deficit in half, but senior goalkeeper
Jet Vermeulen stood tall. She made three saves in a 10-second span with four minutes remaining, preserving the shutout victory.
