LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Following a career day in ESU's 27-13 win over West Chester, senior RB
Ajani Walker was named the PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Walker led the ESU rushing attack with 154 of the team's 318 yards on the ground as the Warriors defeated West Chester to improve to 4-1. He scored one touchdown and had a second called back, breaking off an 82-yard run when ESU was pinned on its own goal line, as he averaged just over 10 yards per carry on 15 attempts. The York native's 154 rushing yards were the most by a Warrior since 2019, becoming the first ESU player to record over 150 yards on the ground since Devante Robinson ran for 177 in the season finale against Clarion. This is Walker's first PSAC East Athlete of the Week award.
Walker has been a major factor in a four-man backfield that has seen ESU eclipse 250 yards on the ground in four of its five games so far, averaging 269.8 per game and 6.2 per carry. The Warriors currently boast the seventh-best rushing offense in all of Division II, leading the PSAC as well in rushing yards per game. Overall, the Warriors are also 10th in yards per carry and tied for 19th with 60 rushing first downs and 15 rushing touchdowns, leading the conference in the latter.
The Warriors capped off a three-game homestand by winning their conference opener, and now enter a two-week stretch of consecutive road games before returning to Eiler-Martin Stadium to close out October. They'll take on the Huskies next at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Bloomsburg, Pa.
