Men's Basketball Hosts Kutztown for Regular Season Home Finale, Senior Night, and PSAC 75

2/24/2026 6:44:00 PM

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The ESU men’s basketball team has a packed schedule of events for its final home game of the 2025-26 regular season, hosting the Kutztown Golden Bears while honoring the team’s seniors and celebrating the 75th anniversary of the PSAC.

SCOUTING EAST STROUDSBURG

  • Coming in as the current three seed in the PSAC East with a 13-6 conference record, the Warriors could control their own destiny. If they win their last two games, they will at-worst secure a home playoff game in the PSAC quarterfinals.
  • ESU has won its last three games, coming off a one-week break after having the weekend off. The Warriors held off a Lock Haven comeback attempt last Wednesday on the road, defeating the Bald Eagles 80-76.
  • A rotating trio of Warriors has traded times as the team’s leading scorer, and as of late, Ethan Maynard has stepped up as the top offensive option. The guard recorded his second 20-point game of the season against Lock Haven, his first since Dec. 6 against Seton Hill. Maynard is averaging 16.8 PPG in his last four games, shooting 51.0% from the field and 48.0% from three-point distance.
  • Adrian Brito still leads the Warriors in scoring on a per-game basis, as the dependable freshman has reached double figures in all but five games this season. Prior to last week’s game, Brito had been averaging 15.0 PPG during the Warriors’ first four games of February, and was named the PSAC East Athlete of the Week after his games against Mansfield and Shippensburg.
  • Nasir Griffin, one of the team’s two seniors ESU will recognize prior to tipoff, looks to end his career as a Warrior on a high note. Griffin has played his best basketball of the season since ESU’s game against West Chester on Jan. 29, scoring over 20 points twice and double digits five times. Griffin has been able to do it all on any given night, as he’s one of the Warriors’ most reliable free-throw shooters, has averaged over 5.0 RPG in his last three games, and only had six games this year without an assist.
  • Ethan Millirons is the other senior ESU will honor, as he comes in as the leading three-point shooter in the PSAC. Shooting 46.2% on the season from deep, Millirons has the fifth-most three pointers in the conference as well, with 61.
  • ESU has had two guards progress during the season into reliable offensive contributors that fit their role with each unit; Saleem Payne in the starting five and Keni Williams off the bench. Payne had a career outing four games ago against Shepherd, exploding for 20 points, but is more known for his defense and playmaking with 2.8 APG. Williams is coming off a 14-point game against Lock Haven, his third-highest scoring outing this year.
  • Jalen Pichardo has helped ESU dominate the glass regardless of matchup. Pichardo has the sixth-most rebounds in the conference with 215, but where he thrives is the offensive glass. When it comes to creating second-chance opportunities, Pichardo is second in the conference and 17th in Division II with 3.5 ORPG.
  • The Warriors’ offense is one of the best in Division II, averaging 88.5 PPG. Their bench plays a large role in that, giving ESU a wealth of scorers on any given night, as they average 44.0 PPG from the second unit. Their offense has been able to make up for their scoring defense, as the Warriors allow 78.7 PPG, a mark that has improved down the stretch but still ranks in the latter half of the conference.

SCOUTING KUTZTOWN

  • The Golden Bears come into the matchup looking to stop their skid before the season ends, having lost nine of their last 10. The Golden Bears own a 3-16 conference record and are 6-18 overall.
  • Kutztown defeated Shippensburg 72-66 on Feb. 11 for their last win, but have lost the last three games to Bloomsburg, Millersville, and Shepherd; all by double digits.
  • Jalen Bryant has still been able to put the ball in the hoop despite the losses, averaging 16.3 PPG. He rarely comes off the floor for Kutztown, playing an average of 34.2 MPG.
  • Jordan Nkoa Abessolo has been one of the top rebounders in the conference all season, nearly averaging a double-double. The forward posts 14.2 PPG and 9.8 RPG while shooting 50.7% from the field.
  • The Golden Bears may be without two of their top contributors on Wednesday as Yahmir Satterfield and Tobi Ogunbare have missed multiple games during the last month. Filling Satterfield’s void offensively has been Omari Banks, who is averaging 9.3 PPG on 41.5% shooting from the field.
  • Kutztown’s Achilles heel this season has been its offense. Coming in only averaging 68.5 PPG, that mark puts them second to last in the conference. Their defense has been keeping them in games, as they rank seventh in that category with just 75.7 PPG against.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Warriors are one win away from their 100th over Kutztown, as they hold a 99-78 advantage over the Golden Bears dating back to 1927.
  • ESU has won 16 of the last 17 games against Kutztown, including five straight. During the win streak, ESU has won by an average margin of 19.8 PPG.
