Women's Basketball Falls in First Round Against the Marauders

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team concluded its season in the opening round of the PSAC Tournament, dropping to Millersville 64-61 Monday evening at Koehler Fieldhouse.  

The Warriors wrap up the 2025-26 campaign with a 17-12 overall record and a 12-9 mark in conference play. 

Notables 

Brooke Droege led the team with 13 points, Lacie Kringe followed with 12, and Brie Droege added 11. Caitlin Marten grabbed a team-best10 rebounds and added two blocks. Brie contributed nine rebounds and two steals, while Emma Thornton grabbed seven rebounds.  

The Warriors shot 29.8 percent from the field, while the Marauders finished at 35.1 percent. 

How it Happened 

Kringe opened the scoring at the 9:42 mark, and Thornton's layup gave ESU an early 4-0 edge. After Millersville evened the score at four, Brie knocked down a three-pointer to regain the lead. Brooke added a layup and later recorded a steal that White converted into a three, putting ESU ahead 12-8. Millersville closed the quarter on a 7-2 run to take a 15-14 lead. 

Brie and Thornton started the second quarter with back-to-back baskets to give the Warriors an 18-15 advantage. The Marauders responded with an 8-0 run to move ahead 23-18. A Kringe layup and a three-pointer from Lilly Riggi at the 3:55 mark pushed ESU back in front, 28-27. Brie's jumper with 23 seconds remaining sent the Warriors into halftime trailing 34-32. 

Thornton completed a three-point play to open the third quarter, and Marten added a layup at 6:58. Brooke's jumper at 6:07 tied the game at 39-39. After a scoring drought, Brie hit a jumper at 2:56 and later assisted on Brooke's three-pointer to give ESU a 44-43 lead. Devine and Brooke each scored late in the period to send the Warriors into the fourth quarter ahead, 48-45. 

Two early baskets extended ESU's lead to 52-45. However, Millersville regained the lead with a three-point play just under a minute remaining. Three sets of free throws pushed the Marauders' advantage to six. A late three-pointer by Kringe brought the Warriors within reach, but ESU ultimately fell 64-61 to close out the season.
