STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University softball team dropped both games against the West Chester Golden Rams Tuesday afternoon. The Warriors fell 4-3 in game one and 8-2 in game two.
Game 1
Delaney Ridgell and Kinsley Proepper combined for five of ESU's seven hits and each crossed the plate once. Karlye Teman and Marissa Perez added a hit apiece, while Tulana Mingin also scored a run.
The Golden Rams scored two early runs in the first inning.
The Warriors answered in the bottom half with three runs on two hits. Mingin was hit by a pitch and moved to second on Ridgell's single to left. Proepper then delivered a two-RBI double to left center, scoring both runners to tie the game at 2-2. Proepper later came home on Megan Chroniger's groundout to second, giving ESU a 3-2 advantage.
The Golden Rams regained the lead in the fifth, scoring two runs on two hits and an error to make it 4-3.
Game 2
West Chester opened the second game with a run in the top of the first inning on two hits.
ESU responded in the bottom half, scoring twice on one hit and an error. Mingin drew a walk, Maddin Grow singled, and Ridgell reached on an error to load the bases. Proepper's walk brought Mingin home, and a groundout allowed Grow to score, putting the Warriors ahead 2-1.
The Golden Rams answered with six runs across the second and third innings to take control, 7-2. West Chester added another run in the fifth on two hits and an error to extend the lead to 8-2.
