Warriors Sweep Golden Rams Behind Four Home Runs

WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University softball team used four home runs across two games to sweep West Chester, taking game one 4-1 before securing a 5-4 extra-inning victory in game two.

With the sweep, the Warriors improved to 28-16 overall and 16-10 in conference action. 

Notables 

The Warriors stayed hot at the plate, launching four home runs on the day. Megan Chroniger and Katie Master went deep in game one, while Kinsley Proepper and Maddin Grow added homers in game two.

Proepper led the offense with four hits, including a 3-for-4 performance in the second game. Grow finished with three hits, while Maddy Pritchard and Master each added two. Chroniger, Tulana Mingin, and Karlye Teman also contributed hits.

Sarah Davenport earned the win in game one, improving to 17-8 after striking out seven and allowing just one run. In game two, Tessa Guenette picked up the win to move to 10-4, recording four strikeouts and not allowing a run.

Game 1 

Chroniger opened the scoring with a solo home run to right field in the second inning. West Chester responded in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1.  

The Warriors extended their lead to 3-1 in the third, scoring two runs on two hits and an error. Mingin reached after being hit by a pitch and moved to second on Grow's single. Both runners advanced on a flyout before Proepper's single brought home Mingin, while Grow scored on an error.

Master added insurance in the fourth with a home run to centerfield, extending the lead to 4-1.

Game 2 

The Golden Rams scored the first run in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly. 

ESU answered in the second when Proepper singled, advanced on an error and a groundout, and scored on Master's groundout to tie the game.

West Chester took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the second, scoring three runs on four hits.  

In the top of the fourth, Proepper hit a solo home run to centerfield. After the bases were loaded, Teman drove in Chroniger with an RBI single to cut the deficit to 4-3.

With two outs in the top of the seventh, Grow delivered her first home run of her career to tie the game at 4-4.  In the eighth, Proepper led off with a double to right field. Pinch runner Macy Crum advanced on a groundout before scoring the game-winning run on Master's groundout, 5-4.

The Warriors return to action on Sunday, April 26, when they host Lock Haven.
