INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The ESU women's lacrosse team held its top ranking in the Atlantic Region, the NCAA announced Wednesday afternoon with the latest release of its regional rankings.
Since the last rankings release, ESU defeated No. 11 West Chester, 14-13, in overtime on the road. Although the rankings considered games through April 26, the Warriors then beat Lock Haven, 21-6, in the PSAC Quarterfinals.
The rest of the list goes as Slippery Rock, who's also undefeated, as the second seed in the region, followed by West Chester and Wingate. Currently in the final two postseason spots are Kutztown and Frostburg State, with Lenoir-Rhyne and Anderson (S.C.) on the outside looking in.
ESU can have up to two more games versus regionally-ranked opponents before the NCAA Tournament, as the Warriors will take on the Golden Bears in the PSAC Semifinals, with Slippery Rock and West Chester playing on the other side of the bracket. ESU's semifinal game will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 1, in Slippery Rock, Pa.
